JAKARTA - The Jakarta Provincial Government said that newcomers cannot simply receive social assistance (bansos). They have to stay and have been registered for 10 years to get the program.

"In the future, Jakarta will have a policy regulation of at least 10 years to stay and be registered in the Jakarta area before registering as a candidate for receiving social assistance," said Head of the Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Service (Dukcapil) Budi Awaludin to reporters, Friday, March 4.

Budi said this policy was not to prohibit foreign immigrants. "However, (the aim is to make, red) fair and measurable for each resident to remain served according to the applicable rules," he said.

"Because we have an obligation to protect the city of Jakarta and its citizens so that they remain safe and comfortable for the residents," continued Budi.

According to him, newcomers should have a guarantee of housing to permanent expertise and work. Do not let them make no contribution to Jakarta to global cities.
