Megawati Visits Bung Karno's Grave

BLITAR - General Chairperson of the PDIP DPP Megawati Soekarnoputri visited the grave of her father, First President of the Republic of Indonesia Soekarno, in Bendogerit Village, Sananwetan District, Blitar City, East Java.

Member of the House of Representatives, Pulung Agustanto, said that this pilgrimage was carried out routinely during Eid al-Fitr 2025.

The general chairman of the PDIP DPP Megawati Soekarnoputri had previously made a pilgrimage to several locations including the grave of Taufik Kiemas, who is her husband.

"The mission of Bung Karno's grave is a continuation in Lebaran. Yesterday he went to Mrs. Fatmawati's grave in Jakarta, then to Mr. Taufik (Taufik Kiemas) at TMP and innyekar (trial) at Bung Karno's grave, the proclaimer and father of Mrs. Megawati," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, April 4.

He said that apart from this activity, apart from being followed by the family, there were also ranks from the PDIP DPP and members of the DPR RI who participated.

However, he emphasized that this activity was purely a pilgrimage and had nothing to do with the preparation of the PDIP DPP Congress.

"This is a funeral pilgrimage, routinely. The matter of congress does not yet know the schedule," he said.

The group of the General Chairperson of the PDIP DPP arrived at around 11.50 WIB. They also went straight to the tomb area.

The fifth President of the Republic of Indonesia also immediately sat in front of his father's grave, accompanied by his brother, Sukmawati.

Megawati at that time wore a brown shirt sitting on a chair, west of her father's grave. Meanwhile, his younger brother, Sukmawati, sat to the east of Bung Karno's tomb.

In addition, there are also ranks from the PDIP DPP, members of the Indonesian House of Representatives from PDIP, as well as regional heads who also participated in the pilgrimage, including the PDIP DPP administrator who was once the Mayor of Blitar Djarot Saiful Hidayat, the former Minister of Social Affairs in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet Tri Rismaharini and several other officials.

They sang prayers led by the local imam. After the prayer was finished, Megawati also read special prayers at Bung Karno's grave.

After a while, the group then finished the pilgrimage and left the location. Megawati and her entourage continued their journey by air.
