JAKARTA - Singer Reza Artamevia and his colleague Ratna Dewi asked for legal protection from Commission III of the DPR regarding the alleged case of theft of diamonds.
Reza made the request during a meeting with a joint opinion with Commission III of the DPR, Thursday, December 17.
Previously, Reza was reported to the Polda Metro Jaya by a woman named IM regarding the alleged theft of diamonds. Meanwhile, Reza has also made a complaint to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police Headquarters regarding the alleged theft of the diamond business on November 6.
In the RDP, Aaliyah Massaid's mother fully revealed the chronology of the incident. Starting from his introduction to a woman named Ita Martina (IM) and her husband named Datuk Kamaruddin Maranun in June.
After the meeting, Reza and his colleague, Ratna Dewi discussed the business of buying and selling diamonds with IM who claimed to also have a diamond shop called Lavin Newyork in Malaysia.
Reza then revealed that he needed funds and wanted to borrow IM. IM also agreed as long as there was a guarantee, so Reza finally pawned his diamonds.
"He said he wanted to give a loan capital. He said as long as there was a guarantee, we would give it," said Reza Artamevia in the DPR Commission III room, Tuesday, December 17.
The alleged diamond fraud case began with the loan disbursement process. According to Reza, IM and her husband made 3 loan transactions.
Reza said that he had submitted 9 diamond items worth Rp150 billion to IM. However, when the third loan was borrowed, IM only disbursed Rp7 billion in funds with the promise to hand over the remaining loan.
"The first funds that entered were Rp. 10 billion, the second was Rp. 3.5 billion and the third was Rp. 7 billion, the remaining Rp. 28.7 billion was still," explained Reza.
However, according to Reza, IM did not fulfill their promise to hand over the remaining loans. On the other hand, IM instead asked Reza to provide an advantage over the loan.
"On September 11, Datuk called and asked for a profit transfer. What about from their side, the rest of them has not been transferred. Then he cheated, he could sell it. Finally, we discussed and wanted to give only 10 percent, we paid a profit of Rp. 2 M because they haven't paid the rest of the loan," he explained.
Reza was surprised when IM accused him of giving fake diamonds when he was billed for the last payment. In fact, said Reza, he had confirmed that the promised diamonds were genuine and certified GIA or the Gemological Institute of America.
"They said we checked all of this was fake. I asked when the check was, on August 22, while we met on October 7th. How come they didn't talk on August 22nd? Their lawyer said I was the one who forbade them to say this was fake. Then they gave us a subpoena for the first 3 diamonds, we finally responded to the summons. A few weeks later, in November we received the second subpoena, he said 9 fake diamonds, we don't understand anymore what the story is," he explained.
Reza was again shocked when he was reported to the Polda Metro Jaya regarding this fake diamond, along with himself who made a complaint to the National Police Headquarters.
Therefore, Thoriq Halilintar's father-in-law also went to Commission III of the DPR to ask for legal protection. Reza also hopes that this case can be transferred to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police.
"Honestly, we are worried, we are small people, our opponents are people who have power. And we found that Lavin Newyork in Malaysia sold synthetic diamonds and we only found out after this case emerged. We are worried that they will make every effort (to bring down). We only ask for legal protection because we feel that the unit II of Jatanras Polda ignores the evidence we provide," said Reza.
Hearing Reza's complaint, Chairman of Commission III of the DPR RI Habiburokhman asked the Police Criminal Investigation Bureau to conduct a special case title and recommend the case faced by Reza to be handled by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police.
