JAKARTA. - Member of Commission III of the House of Representatives, Gilang Dhielafararez, asked the police to thoroughly investigate the case of mistreatment of bakery employees in Cakung, East Jakarta, including looking for lawyers who deceived victims.

Gilang reminded that the police must handle the case professionally and without intervention. According to him, police firmness is the commitment to upholding legal justice in this republic.

"We ask the police to work professionally and ensure that the rights of the victims are protected. There should be no discrimination or attempt to cover up this case simply because the perpetrators have certain backgrounds," said Gilang Dhiefararez, Tuesday, December 17.

Commission III of the DPR today held an audience with a bakery employee named Dwi Ayu Darmawati (DAD). Dwi Ayu became a victim of abuse by the son of the bread shop boss in East Jakarta named George Sugama Halim (GSH).

In front of members of Commission III of the DPR, Dwi explained the chronology of when he was thrown by chairs and other items by the bread boss's son to the point of bleeding.

Dwi said the incident occurred on October 17 at 21.00 WIB where the perpetrator came to the shop and ordered dinner online and asked the victim to deliver George's order to his room.

However, Dwi refused because he felt it was not part of his job working at George's parents' bakery. Because of this incident, George threw Dwi with the items in the bakery.

This case of abuse went viral on social media because the victim had reported the alleged abuse to the East Jakarta Police on October 18, 2024, but the police only arrested the perpetrator on Sunday, December 15, night or almost 2 months since the report was made.

In an audience with Commission III of the DPR, Dwi also stated that he had to sell his motorbike while guarding the case that happened to him. Dwi sold a motorbike to hire a lawyer, which was later discovered that the victim was actually deceived because there was no legal assistance afterward.

Regarding this, Gilang emphasized that the police must also investigate the fraud case, especially since the lawyer admitted that he came to the victim for an envoy from the Regional Police.

The good name of the National Police institution is also at stake. After being considered to have been investigating this case for a long time, now there are also lawyers who claim to be police envoys who deceived the victim. The victim is like having fallen down a ladder too," he said.

Gilang emphasized that the investigation was important considering that in recent times the image of the police was declining due to attacks by individuals on the community. The shooting that occurred recently became a scourge and made the image of the police go free.

"Public trust in law enforcement institutions depends heavily on the justice enforced in cases like this. The police must be able to protect the people according to their constitutional duties," said Gilang.
