JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Health (Wamenkes) of the Republic of Indonesia Dante Saksono Harbuwono said that the relocation of residents of the Angke Toll Road, Jelambar Baru, West Jakarta to flats (rusun) included preventing the spread of disease, including tuberculosis (TBC).

According to Dante, TB disease in slum settlements such as settlements under the Angke Toll Road spread faster due to low environmental sanitation.

"With the relocation, they have better sanitation, so they are more vulnerable to the possibility of being exposed to tuberculosis," said Dante during his visit to the TB Alert Village RW 09 Jelambar Baru, West Jakarta, Antara, Monday, December 16.

The government's steps entitled 'quick win' in order to eradicate tuberculosis include environmental sanitation.

"Efforts to deal with TB actually have several things, not only about treatment and diagnosis, but also environmental sanitation problems," said Dante.

Therefore, his party supports its main relocation program to prevent the spread of infectious diseases such as tuberculosis.

Hingga kini, kata Dante, terdapat 680-700 warga Kolong Tol Angke yang telah direlokasi dan sebagian besar menuju sejumlah rusun di Jakarta.

"This sanitation is a job that has been assisted by the Mayor (Jakbar). The Mayor has moved (part of) 680-700 people from under the Kolong Tol Angke Bridge to the flats," concluded Dante.

The West Jakarta City Government has confirmed that 257 families with 685 people under the Angke Toll Road have been relocated from the area.

Of the 257 families, 139 families with DKI ID cards have been relocated to Daan Mogot Flats, Rawabuaya Flats, Tegal Alur Flats and Pulogadung PIK Flats.

Meanwhile, 98 families with ID cards outside DKI Jakarta have been compensated for IDR 1.5 million per family for a two-month stay rental fee.

Then 20 families without Family Identification Number (NIK) or without ID cards are still being processed to make DKI ID cards. Some of the 20 families whose ID cards have been processed have also been relocated to the flats.
