BOGOR - The Bogor City Government, West Java, appealed to traders and the general public as consumers to pay attention to the quality of the cow's liver to avoid catfishing or Helminthiasis, as an effort to maintain consumption of healthy foods.
Deputy Mayor of Bogor, Dedie Abdul Rachim, while reviewing the sale of meat and beef at the Bogor Market, did not find any indication that the cattle' hearts sold by traders were infected with kecacingan disease and they were asked to maintain the quality of their wares.
"Most of them are for daily consumption, some of which are from RPH. Those that have to be watched out for are unclean cow sources. So far, most of the samples come from RPH, Alhamdulillah it's safe," said Dedie, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 5.
Dedie Rachim said that the review of the sale of meat and beef, including cattle's hearts in the market, followed up on the findings of the DKPP, IPB Initiality and Polbangtan from 8,000 cows that existed at the moment of Eid al-Adha 1444 Hijriyah, conducted a heart and meat check on 738 cows in the laboratory and found 17 cows who turned out to be infected with vagrant diseases.
The review of beef and beef liver was carried out by Dedie A Rachim together with the Foot and Mouth Disease Task Force (PMK) Team from the Bogor City Food and Fisheries Security Service (DKPP) at the Bogor Market and did not find a cow's heart sold by a trader indicated for fishing.
The supply of beef and beef liver in Bogor City, said Dedie, was the result of communication with the majority traders from the Bubulak Slaughterhouse (RPH) which is currently protected from catfish.
"So far, most of the samples came from RPH, Alhamdulillah it is safe. After being traced, it turned out that the source of the cows indicated that the liver worms came from outside the city of Bogor," he said.
Dedie suggested that as a precaution, people should cook sacrificial meat or beef and beef in general carefully to make it safer and more suitable for consumption.
"If the feedlot eats concentrates. But if the cows from other places need to be watched out for so that the residents of Bogor are safe and stay healthy," he said.
Head of the Bogor City DKPP Livestock Division, Drh Anizar, explained that the heart of a good cow looks clean and smooth, dark brown. On the other hand, the heart of the cow that is infected with kecacingan if there is a narcotic spot like a fungus.
"Usually the heart has a hard texture, if we split the heartworm inside," explained Drh Anizar.

"If it is cooked properly, it's actually okay, but the cooking must be cooked until it boils," he said.
