Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka will follow up on the waste problem in the Bengawan Solo River which had disrupted the production of local PDAM water.
"We will follow up later," said Gibran in Solo as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday.
Gibran said he would coordinate with the local government considering that the waste that entered the Bengawan Solo River did not come from Solo but from industries in Sukoharjo Regency.
"I'll follow up later. This is always repeated. (Coordination, ed) is also cross-regional," he said.
Previously, the Toya Wening Surakarta Regional Drinking Water Company (PDAM) had stopped water treatment due to waste polluting the Bengawan Solo River on Friday (16/6) from morning to evening.

Surakarta PDAM Information and Documentation Manager Bayu Tunggul said he had coordinated with the Environment Agency (DLH). Moreover, in the last few weeks there has also been a pladu, where the fish in the Bengawan Solo River have been drunk so that they appear on the surface due to being polluted by waste.
"This means that the waste in Mojolaban has not been handled. The waste is from alcohol MSMEs," he said.
Related to this, Bayu hopes that the DLH of Sukoharjo Regency and Central Java Province can act immediately considering that the water source from Bengawan Solo concerns the lives of many people.
"Our production is 80-90 liters/second," he said.
