Cianjur Police Chief AKBP Aszhari Kurniawan said the disclosure of the shelter house for prospective illegal migrant workers in the Puncak area began with reports of local residents who were suspicious of activities inside houses inhabited by residents from various regions.

From the results of the examination, the alleged perpetrator admitted that he had been carrying out the activity for the past year and had dispatched more than 20 migrant workers from various regions using documents and tourist visas.
"We are still conducting further investigations and developments to uncover a larger network of criminal acts of trafficking in persons (TPPO) with the mode of sending illegal migrant workers because the suspect is unlikely to do it alone," said Aszhari.
The perpetrators were charged with Articles 4 and 10 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 21 of 2007 concerning Trafficking in Persons in conjunction with Articles 81 and 83 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 18 of 2017 concerning the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers.
"The perpetrator can be sentenced to a maximum of three years and a maximum of 15 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 15 billion. We ask residents to report when they find suspicious activities in the neighborhood where they live," said Cianjur Police Chief.
