Based On 123 Observation Points, The Government Sets Eid Al-Fitr 1444 Hijri To Fall On Saturday 22 April

The government through the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) decided on Eid al-Fitr or 1 Syawal 1444 Hijriah in Indonesia to fall on Saturday 22 April 2023.

The decision was based on the results of the Isbat trial, the initial determination of Syawal 1443 H, which was led directly by the Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas at the Ministry of Religion Office, Thursday, April 20, 2023 evening WIB.

"The consensus has set 1 Shawwal 1444 Hijri to fall on Saturday 22 April 2023," said Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas at a press conference Thursday, April 20, 2023.

The trial began with a seminar. The seminar stated that the hilal in all parts of Indonesia was at 0 degrees 45 minutes to 2 degrees 21.6 minutes with an elongation angle of 1 degree 28.2 minutes to 3 degrees 5.4 minutes.

The Ministry of Religion itself prepares the location of observations of the hilal which is spread over 123 points throughout Indonesia for the determination of 1 Syawal 1444 H.

For the western region in Aceh, observations were made in two places. Each at the Tgk Chik Kuta Karang Lhoknga Observatory and Bukit Blang Tiron Lhokseumawe.

Then the monitoring of the hilal in Jakarta is located in the DKI Jakarta Regional Office Building, Hasim Asyari Mosque, West Jakarta, Hidayatullah Basmol Islamic Boarding School, West Jakarta, and Pramuka Island, Thousand Islands.

Hilal monitoring is also carried out in the easternmost region of Indonesia, Papua. Monitoring locations there are carried out i Hotel Waigo (Sorong), Hotel Waigo (Sorong), and Hotel Beach Nirmala Beach (Biak Numfor Regency).

Hilal observations use the methods of reckoning and rukyat. The Ministry of Religion always uses these two methods to complement one another.
