Illegal Gold Mining Case In Bulungan Kaltara, Police Name 2 Suspects

The Directorate of Special Investigation and Crime of the North Kalimantan Police (Kaltara) has named two suspects with the initials N and A regarding the illegal gold mining case in Bulungan Regency.

"Based on the results of the case title, that the mining in Kec. Sekatak, on Friday 7 April 2023 N was declared a suspect," said Director of Criminal Investigation at the Kaltara Police, Kombes Pol. Hendy F Kurniawan, quoted by ANTARA, April 8.

Based on the investigator's assessment, suspect N, who is a female, has the potential to run away, destroy evidence and repeat the act.

"We picked up the woman with the initials N on Thursday afternoon at around 11.30 WIB at a hotel in East Jakarta after being absent twice, N was detained for the first 20 days," said Hendy.

Previously, the Kaltara Police arrested 13 people at an illegal mine in Sekatak District, Bulungan Regency during the Kayan PETI 2023 operation, on March 22, 2023.

From the results of the investigation, it was determined that initials A was a suspect because of the work of people and equipment at the location of PT. BTM without a Mining Jas Business License (IUJP) and other licensing equipment.
