BATURAJA - As an effort to recover the community's economy, which for the last two years had slumped due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency One-Stop Manunggal Administration System (Samsat) Office, South Sumatra launched a motor vehicle tax bleaching program which was enforced from April 1 to December 23, 2023.

"The motor vehicle tax bleaching program will take effect today for the next nine months," said Head of Samsat OKU 1, Humaniora Basili Basmark in Baturaja, Saturday.

He said the implementation of the motor vehicle tax bleaching program was a policy of the Governor of South Sumatra, Herman Deru, which was implemented in all local provinces, including OKU Regency.

In addition, this program is also clear evidence that the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of South Sumatra is always ready to be present in various conditions felt by the community to provide relief from paying motorized vehicle taxes that are in arrears.

"Of course this program is very helpful and eagerly awaited by the community," he said.

He explained that this program includes bleaching motor vehicle taxes and Motor Vehicle Name Transfer Fees (BBNKB) where the government provides relief for tax arrears for one year and tax for the year.

"For example, public vehicles that are in arrears of tax for three years, it is enough to pay one year of tax arrears plus tax for the year," he explained.

Meanwhile, BBNKB was applied the same as the tax bleaching program the previous year, namely that vehicle mutations between districts and provinces only paid 50 percent.

"If BBNKB in the district remains normal, the tariff is as usual," he said.

He hopes that this program can be utilized as well as possible by the community by paying vehicle taxes that are in arrears at the nearest Samsat.

"Immediately pay vehicle taxes at the nearest Samsat, because this tax bleaching program is very useful and maybe 2023 is the last year it will be held," he concluded.
