JAKARTA - Guitarist Gus G. spoke with TotalRock's Neil Jones about the progress of the recording session for Firewind's next studio album.

"It's still under construction. We did the drum tracking before we left for the [in Europe with Beast In Black] tour in early January. And actually now I have a break of about a month before I leave for another tour, namely for my solo band," explained Gus G.

"But I have a month window here to finish all the guitar fillings. So basically I'm taking leave this week and next week I'm starting to track the guitar. I hope to finish everything by the end of spring, just before summer, and start launching some more singles this summer."

Asked if Firewind's latest single, Destiny Is Calling, which was released in February, is a good representation of what fans expect to hear on the upcoming album, Gus G said.

"Yes. Let's go. All the songs, in my opinion, have that kind of anthemic vibration. So, yes, I think it's a really good and strong song to start with."

When Destiny Is Calling was first released two months ago, Gus said in a statement: "We have tested the new song live every night [on the European tour] and the remarks are phenomenal.

"This video was recorded on February 11 in Munich in Tonhalle in front of 2,000 metalheads screaming and we feel it is capturing the energy and mood of the song.

"Enforce and enjoy!"
