JAKARTA - Former manager David Bowie, Tony Defries said the rock icon plans to bring back Ziggy Stardust on a comeback tour.

The late Bowie stopped his alter ego at a concert at Hammersmith Odeon London in 1973.

Talking about his reasons for 'killing' Ziggy at the time, the icon told NME: 'That's him. Period. I don't want to do any more shows and the American date has been canceled. From now on I will concentrate on various activities that have nothing to do with rock and pop.'

Now, Defries said the reason he retired from his persona was his success.

"Basically, I don't think success is the ideal situation for David," Defries told MOJO. When [ 1973 album] mediank Sane sold in large numbers and many people closed the train station, just to get a glimpse of it, I think that's when everything started to seep in, that he was no longer an ordinary person. Ziggy's effect continued and he couldn't handle it, really," he said.

He also said Bowie's reasons were influenced by Frank totaling, who left the music industry in 1971 before returning two years later. He explained: David is a big fan of your story. Making a comeback is the main thing.

The most surprising thing was that he said they were planning a comeback tour.

We tried and failed to make a promoter in America order [ Bowie / Ziggy Stardust's comebacktur] to a big arena as a headliner. So, that's the real reason to retire from Ziggy, to be honest... has nothing to do with music or style or anything.

Bowie also wants to re-launch Ziggy Stardust in space, video game designer Phil Campbell previously said.

Meanwhile, Bowie's asset holder on April 2 paid tribute to Ryuichi Sakamoto after he died. Sakamoto not only scored for the film Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence, but also starred in the war film with the late icon.
