JAKARTA - A number of popular Bollywood songs were removed from Spotify due to a license dispute with the top label.

The Independent reported on Thursday that fans were inflamed on social media after hundreds of songs from Indian label Zee Music Company disappeared from playlists.

Label, claimed to be India's second most popular, claims that it is home to more than 50 percent of Bollywood's new music.

Now, the very popular soundtrack for a number of films including Babinao Mastani, Ram-Leela, and Gully Boy has been removed from the service.

Meanwhile, the song Apna Bana Le, from the new film Bhediya, was also deleted despite being the most played song on Spotify in India in recent weeks.

Spotify and Zee Music cannot reach a license agreement," in a statement to Billboard, Spotify said.

During these negotiations, Spotify has tried to find a creative way to reach an agreement with Zee Music and will continue our good faith negotiations in hopes of finding a mutually agreed solution soon.
