JAKARTA - Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi again tried the direct train service without transit or direct train for the Jakarta Gambir Station-Yogyakarta Tugu Station relationship. After previously conducting a trial of the Jakarta Gambir Station-Semarang Tawang Station relationship.

Dudy directly tested this train service trial with the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Minister of ATR/BPN Nusron Wahid and Deputy Minister of BUMN Kartika Wirjoatmojo. The group departed from Gambir Station, Jakarta on Monday, December 16, at 23.25 WIB.

According to Dudy, the direct train for the Jakarta-Yogyakarta relationship is an important breakthrough to serve the community more quickly and comfortably.

He hopes that this continuous direct train service can be an option for train users, both those who travel to work, travel, and those who will return home.

"With the train without transiting the Gambir Station-Yogyakarta Station, it can provide a new experience for the public to enjoy train trips," he said in an official statement, Tuesday, December 16.

In addition, Dudy also asked PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI to continue to provide excellent service to the community, especially in terms of safety, comfort, and timeliness.

The launch of this direct train is the result of good cooperation between the Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of SOEs, the Coordinating Ministry for Regional Infrastructure and Development, PT Kereta Api Indonesia, and various related parties.

Dudy believes that this proves, with strong synergy, modern and sustainable transportation can be realized.

Dudy also promised that if the trial went smoothly and the public interest turned out to be large, then this service did not rule out the possibility that it would continue in the future. He also appreciated the parties who had contributed to this direct train project.

For information, the Jakarta-Yogyakarta direct train service is only available exclusively and in the form of trials on December 16 and 17, 2024.

As for the plan, PT KAI will operate this direct train during the 2024/2025 Nataru activity, starting on December 18, 2024. The selection of the Jakarta-Yogyakarta route and vice versa is an adjustment to regulations from restrictions on machinist working hours.
