BPH Migas Forms Subsidized Fuel Supervision And Monitoring Task Force

JAKARTA - The Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) formed a Subsidized Oil and Gas Supervision and Monitoring Task Force Team (Satgas). This is done to increase supervision in the provision and distribution of subsidized fuel oil (BBM) set at 17 million KL in 2023.

Member of the BPH Migas Committee, Iwan Prasetya Adhi, said that one of the tasks of BPH Migas is to ensure that the distribution of subsidized fuel can be enjoyed by the people who are entitled.

This fuel subsidy given to certain groups of people is a form of the Government's social responsibility towards its citizens.

"Given the limited government budget, it is necessary to carry out strict supervision so as not to exceed the predetermined quota," Iwan told the media, Thursday, August 3.

Iwan added that if his party also makes other efforts so that subsidized fuel is right on target and on volume, including the use of a QR Code and controlling the issuance of a recommendation letter for the purchase of subsidized fuel through increasing cooperation with local governments.

"In fact, there are many recommendation letters that still need clarification again," continued Iwan.

Iwan gave an example, the need to go to sea for fishermen, for example around 20 liters of fuel for 2 days and usually rest a day not to go to sea. But, what happens, fishermen take subsidized fuel rations every day and then sell them to collectors.

"This is what we will arrange, cooperate with local governments and related agencies so that calculations are carried out with the needs of each fisherman or farmer," said Iwan.

The formation of the BBM Supervision and Monitoring Task Force Team is another effort. Member of the BPH Migas Committee, Eman Salman Arief, explained that this task force consists of representatives from BPH Migas and other related parties, such as PT Pertamina, and is tasked with monitoring subsidized fuel quotas throughout Indonesia. In addition, mitigation of over quota prevention, especially in areas with potential abuse such as mining areas, plantations and ports.

"This joint team will intensively monitor TBBM, gas stations, and prioritize monitoring of areas adjacent to mining areas," said Eman.

As is known, the Government has banned the use of subsidized fuel for mining activities. For this reason, monitoring the mining area of BPH Migas will also cooperate with the Mining Inspector.

"We use the help of the Tambang Inspector in the regions to check whether the vehicles in the mines use subsidized or non-subsidized fuel," he added.
