JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) through the Maritime and Fisheries Human Resources Counseling and Development Agency (BPPSDM) and Jeju National University (JNU) discussed the information system for Integrated Resources (Sister) of the fishery vocational education program.

This is a follow-up to the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) or the Collective Agreement between the two parties that has been established since June 14, 2022.

At that time, the Head of BPPSDM KKP I Nyoman Radiarta signed a minutes of meeting with the Dean Office of International Affairs JNU Moonjae Cho at JNU.

Nyoman said that his party was very interested in following up on the MoU with JNU to expand cooperation. This is because BPPSDM and JNU have an active MoU. In addition, Korea has also long been Indonesia's partner in the marine and fisheries sector (KP).

"Ocean and fisheries are developing industries in both countries. We are very interested in following up on our MoU with possible areas that we can explore further," Nyoman said in an official statement received by VOI, Monday, July 31.

He said the two parties wanted to work together in developing marine and fishery vocational education management, the Ocean Institute of Indonesia, and the Korean language training program.

Both parties agreed to further discuss the possibility of the Sister Program to become a global and professional fisheries vocational education unit.

"One of the things we want to encourage is the plan to form a Young Student's Collaboration for Research (Pemuda Cooperation for Research) program for undergraduate and master levels through a double degree program or sister program," he said.

Regarding the implementation of the double degree program in Korea and Indonesia as well as the exchange of students and teaching staff, both parties will continue the discussion in more detail. This is done to determine practical activities for the cooperation and negotiate the terms and conditions of cooperation under the signed MoU.

Through this sister program, Nyoman also hopes that students and alumni of the KKP education unit can conduct internships and work at Korean companies by first providing Korean language training. Meanwhile, Korea needs technical personnel in the field for fishery cultivation activities from Indonesia.

"We invite Professor Lee, Professor Cho, and Professor Hanil to Indonesia to discuss in more detail about the sustainability of this cooperation," he concluded.

For your information, the MoU between BPPSDM and JNU was signed on September 14, 2022, in Jeju, South Korea.
