980 Pra Sejahtera Families In Riau Get Free Electricity Connections From PLN

A total of 980 underprivileged families in Tanjung Bungo Village, Kampar Regency, Riau, can now enjoy 24-hour electricity.

This is thanks to the Electricity New Installation Assistance (BPBL) program for free from PT PLN (Persero) through the state budget (APBN).

Member of Commission VII DPR RI Nurzahedi also said that the existence of electricity is very beneficial for residents.

Due to economic factors, many still need help to pay connection costs.

"The majority of community activities currently depend on the availability of electricity for both education, social and business needs in various fields. Hopefully this program will be sustainable and there will be more benefits," said Nurzahedi to reporters, Monday, June 26.

The Director of Engineering and the Electricity Environment of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources M. P. Dwinugroho said that the BPBL program is an effort by the government to bring electricity to the entire community. This is because electricity is the basic need for the whole community.

"One of the government's efforts to provide access to electricity to the community is through the BPBL program. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources expresses its appreciation for the good support and cooperation from Commission VII DPR RI, the district government of Kampar and PLN," said Dwinugroho.

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo stated that PLN will continue to support the government's efforts to improve the standard of living of underprivileged people, one of which is equal access and acceleration of electricity supply.

Therefore, PLN will support the achievement of the target of the electrification ratio of 100 percent by 2024.

"PLN together with partners will join hands, synergize, collaborate and move together to carry out the noble task of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, namely the BPBL program," said Darmawan.

General Manager of PT PLN (Persero) Riau and Riau Islands Distribution Main Unit Agung Murdifi conveyed PLN's commitment to the success of the BPBL program.

Thus, this program is in line with PLN's commitment to continue to illuminate throughout Riau.

"This activity aims to provide opportunities for people at all levels to enjoy electricity, where currently PLN has succeeded in completing the installation of 980 households throughout Riau," said Agung.

In 2022, the BPBL program has electrified 80,183 households throughout Indonesia and spread across 22 provinces.

In 2023, the plan for BPBL beneficiaries in Riau is 3,310 households and a total of 125,000 households throughout Indonesia.
