JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) accompanied by Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir, and Minister of Trade (Mendag) Zulkifli Hasan reviewed the damage to several regional roads in Lampung Province, on Friday, May 5.

One of the sections reviewed is the Simpang Korpri-Purwotani section or the Itera/Kotabaru Toll access road along a total of 14.5 km.

Minister Basuki said that the improvement of regional roads was in accordance with Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 3 of 2023 concerning the Acceleration of Improvement of Regional Road Connectivity.

"So, later through the regional road inpres, damaged regional roads will be repaired through assistance from the center. Which sections will be handled by the state budget determined according to President Jokowi's direction, especially roads connecting production and industrial areas with outlets and markets," said Minister Basuki in a press release, Saturday, May 6.

The Sp.Korpri -Purwotani road or the Itera/Kotabaru Toll access road is one of 15 regional roads in Lampung that have been proposed to be handled through the Regional Road Inpres in FY 2023. Of the total length of 14.5 Km, it has been proposed to be handled by the State Budget with an estimated cost of IDR 69.16 billion.

Ali Mustofa, a resident of Bandar Lampung who works as a minimarket truck driver, welcomed the plan to repair the Sp.Korpri-Purwotani road because the road has been damaged for years.

"Because the road is damaged, the travel time becomes longer, the danger is that the car is often broken. Hopefully, it will be repaired quickly so that it will run smoothly, there will be no more obstacles," he said.

Meanwhile, President Jokowi ensured that the damaged area roads in Lampung would be repaired as soon as possible.

"As soon as possible, it will start (road repairs) to be damaged, which is roughly capable of provinces, then districts that do not have the ability will be taken over by the Ministry of PUPR, especially those whose roads are badly damaged," he added.
