JAKARTA Bank Indonesia (BI) believes that bank credit growth in the 2023 period can be in the range of 10 percent to 12 percent.

BI Governor Perry Warjiyo said the target was still on track with the latest credit growth data as of March at 9.93 percent.

According to Perry, this optimistic attitude is driven by adequate banking liquidity conditions and loose lending/financing standards.

"Credit growth/financing is also supported by increased demand for corporations and households in line with the performance of corporate and MSME businesses, as well as maintained household consumption," he said some time ago.

Perry explained that Islamic financing also showed positive performance with higher growth reaching 19.43 percent last month.

Meanwhile, in the MSME segment, credit growth also continued, reaching 8.63 percent in March 2023, supported by the realization of the distribution of People's Business Credit (KUR) of IDR 30.31 trillion.

"Bank Indonesia will continue to encourage banking intermediation, especially to priority sectors that have not recovered, KUR, and green credit/financing, in order to accelerate economic recovery," he said.

"By paying attention to the development and synergistic efforts made, credit growth in 2023 is in accordance with the previous forecast, which is in the range of 10 percent to 12 percent," concluded Perry.
