Import Export Goods Still Enter, Pelindo Container Buildup Anticipation

JAKARTA - Subholding of PT Pelindo Container Terminal (SPTP) anticipates the accumulation of containers from loading and unloading activities of imported export goods. The reason is, as long as Eid is confirmed to continue operating.

President Director (Director) of SPTP M Adji in Surabaya stated that his party had received a Joint Decree (SKB) of 3 Agencies, namely the Directorate General of Land Transportation, Highways and the Traffic Corps of the Indonesian Police (Korlantas Polri), which emphasized that the distribution or transportation of goods should not operate on the highway for the smooth running of homecoming and return during the Idul Fitri holiday period.

"Including goods originating from imports and exports, for the smooth flow of homecoming and back to Eid al-Fitr, from April 17 to May 2, 2023, it is prohibited from operating," he said, quoting Antara.

SPTP manages as many as 27 terminals in various ports throughout Indonesia which are confirmed to continue operating during the Idul Fitri holiday period.

Adji predicts that only domestic ships will not sail according to the SKB 3 agency rules because upon arrival at the port their goods cannot be distributed during the predetermined date.

"However, ships from abroad carrying export goods and especially imports will certainly continue to sail," he said.

So that SPTP ensures that it will continue to serve loading and unloading services at 27 terminals throughout Indonesia.

For this reason, he said, SPTP has prepared anticipation of the accumulation of containers from imported export goods because they are still not allowed to leave the port according to the SKB 3 agency rules.

"The terminal has prepared several strategies. First, we have several buffer blocks to optimize as well as possible. Then those that were usually piled up were about three containers, on average they could be filled even higher to increase capacity," he said.

Then, Adji said, between export and import blocks in each terminal that are usually separated, you can use a flexible block system.

"So it will depend on which block is most needed to accommodate containers," he said.

SPTP has coordinated with all stakeholders, including in order to take advantage of depots around the port area to accommodate import export containers if the terminal is full.

"In addition, in a coordination meeting with all stakeholders yesterday, we stated that we are ready to provide incentives of up to 50 percent to reduce logistics costs as long as service users' belongings are not allowed to leave the port," he said.
