JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) revealed that there were obstacles in the construction of the Semarang-Demak toll road, namely the issue of compensation for the destroyed land, so that the completion of one of its sections has the potential to be delayed for the next year.

Director General of Highways of the Ministry of PUPR Hedy Rahadian said the problem occurred in the Semarang-Sayung section. The toll road is already under construction contract, but his party is still trying to solve the problem of the destroyed land.

"We are currently in the stage of solving a slightly complicated land problem. Currently, there is a problem with the land being destroyed, we originally planned for 2024, but we may only be able to solve Semarang-Sayung in 2025," Hedy said in a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with Commission V DPR RI in Jakarta, Wednesday, April 12.

Hedy explained that the destroyed land in question is land that has been sunk due to tidal flooding. Based on the Regulation of the Minister of ATR/BPN Number 17 of 2021 concerning Procedures for Determination of Land of Musnah, owners of destroyed land will receive compensation in the form of spirituality whose value is 25 percent of the Value of Selling Tax Objects (NJOP).

However, on the other hand, there was a refusal from residents regarding the compensation scheme.

Even so, recently the government through the Ministry of PUPR has inaugurated the Semarang-Demak Toll Road Section II of the Sayung-Demak section. However, to continue the construction of the Semarang-Sayung section, the Ministry of PUPR must resolve the problem of the destroyed land.

According to Hedy, flood problems often occur in the North Coast (Pantura) area of Central Java, which leads to road damage. The problems are also diverse, ranging from local flooding to tidal flooding.

"Pantura Semarang-Demak is a legend because it is a tidal area. Likewise, what we often do, Pantura in the Batangan area, Lingkar Kudus, Pati, is also a flood-prone area and that's a problem because the floods are not over, and we know that the road is very sensitive to wet conditions," he concluded.
