TNI AD Denies Ranking The Son Of The Boss Of The Roti Shop Who Persecutes Employees: It's An Old Photo

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Army (TNI AD) has denied allegations that its institution is backing up George Sugama Halim, the son of a bakery owner who allegedly abused his employees in the Cakung area, East Jakarta. The Indonesian Army confirmed that the photo circulating on social media was an old photo that was not related to the case. "The photo circulating on platform X and the video on TikTok does show TNI AD Military Police personnel, but the photo is an old photo," said Head of the Army Information Service (Kadispenad) Brigadier General Wahyu Yudhayana, Tuesday, December 17.

Wahyu explained that the photo in the public spotlight was taken in 2021, long before the current case of persecution went viral. In fact, one of the TNI AD personnel in the photo has long retired from military service. "The photo was taken about four years ago, to be precise in 2021, and has nothing to do with the current crowded persecution incident," Wahyu explained.

He also emphasized that the relationship between George Sugama Halim and the TNI AD personnel seen in the photo is only a normal friendship.

"The narrative that mentions the TNI AD Military Police ranking the son of the bakery boss is not true," said Wahyu.

Furthermore, Wahyu stated that the Indonesian Army fully supports the legal process carried out by the police regarding this persecution case. The Indonesian Army emphasized that it would not intervene in the case.

"The Indonesian Army fully supports the police to thoroughly investigate this case according to the applicable law. The actions of George Sugama Halim have absolutely nothing to do with the TNI AD Military Police institution or TNI AD personnel," Wahyu said.

Through this clarification, the Indonesian Army hopes that the public will understand that their institution has no involvement in the persecution case. Wahyu also appealed to the public not to easily believe in narratives that have not been proven true.
