Visa-Free Evaluation Government Based On Turnover To Security

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno said the government would evaluate the granting of free entry visas based on three things, namely reciprocity, benefit and security.

"In the past, we had free visit visas for 159 countries plus 10 ASEAN countries. This will be evaluated based on three things, namely reciprocity, benefit and security," Sandiaga said after attending a limited meeting chaired by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 1.

Sandiaga said the government would conduct an evaluation for the next month. This evaluation is to realize quality and sustainable growth in Indonesian tourism.

According to Sandiaga, there are still many opportunities so that the Indonesian tourism sector can grow in quality and sustainability. The government wants tourists who come to Indonesia to be tourists who can have an impact on the economy such as creating business opportunities and employment opportunities.

"The economy is moving, and of course the number of jobs in the tourism sector and the creative economy is increasing," he said.

In the future, Sandiaga said, Indonesia is targeting a visit length of more than 7 days and spending with a expenditure of 1,000 US dollars per tourist.

Meanwhile, regarding the Golden Visa policy, Sandiaga said that currently the policy is still in the finalization stage.

"The government regulations will be finalized and will soon be finalized later after obtaining approval from the President," Sandiaga said. Previously, the government temporarily suspended the visa-free visit for 159 countries through the Decree of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Number M.HH-01.GR.01.07 of 2023. According to a statement on the official website of the Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, granting visa-free visits had an impact on aspects of state life.
