Luis Suarez Not Released By Gremio, Planned Reunion With Lionel Messi At Inter Miami Threatened To Fail

JAKARTA - The reunion plan between Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi at Major Soccer League (MLS) club Inter Miami is threatened with failure. The reason is, Gremio as the club that currently houses Suarez is adamant about defending the player.

The MLS player transfer window will actually close on August 2. Quoted from ESPN, July 27, Inter Miami is said to be interested in bringing Suarez before the transfer period ends.

Earlier this week, Inter Miami secured a slot for additional foreign player lists as a scenario if Suarez could be redeemed from Brazilian League club Gremio.

The Uruguayan international striker is expected to reunite with former Barcelona teammates, namely Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba who first joined Miami.

However, at a press conference held last Monday, July 25 local time, Inter Miami coach Gerardo Martino had revealed that there were obstacles in bringing Suarez to the United States.

"After all the talks were held, there were some obstacles with respect to the situation between Suarez and Gremio. This means not all decisions are in the hands of Inter Miami," Martino said.

Suarez himself has reportedly been willing to leave Gremio. He is even willing to return all the income received from this club in the amount of 10 million US dollars in order to smooth his steps to the United States.

However, Gremio insisted on defending the player at least until December. Because for them Suarez is a player who is quite influential in the current team trip.

With Gremio's decision to insist on defending Suarez until the end of the year, it means Suarez's dream of a straight back duet with Messi at Inter Miami had to be delayed.
