Mike Tyson Willing To Help Francis Ngannou Face Tyson Fury's Duel Against Tyson Fury
JAKARTA Former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson has expressed his willingness to help Francis Ngannou for a boxing duel against WBC belt ruler Tyson Fury.
Ngannou, who is the UFC heavyweight world champion, will make his professional debut in boxing, in a non-degree match against Fury on October 28 in Saudi Arabia. However, he is seeded to beat Fury.
"I'm willing to help Ngannou. That's definitely cool. I want to do that, yes. I want to be like that," said Mike Tyson as quoted by Boxing Scene.
Ngannou a few days ago discussed his interest in inviting Mike Tyson to help him prepare for the fight against the British world champion.
Apart from Mike Tyson, Ngannou also opened up the possibility of inviting Lennox Lewis. The two former fighters are thought to provide a lot of new experiences to make it difficult for Fury.
"I think getting some advice or training sessions from Mike Tyson would be great. I'm also thinking of someone like Lennox Lewis who might be good. I love his boxing style, very sharp and efficient. One or two punches, all classic, but very good," Ngannou said.
Ngannou is one of the most feared fighters in mixed martial arts. However, he doesn't have much experience in the boxing ring.
Fury had previously posed a threat to his opponent. He said that a fighter would come home with bruises, but the threat did not worry Ngannou.
"He's said a lot of things. He should be getting ready for October 28 because if he doesn't take this seriously, I think he might be surprised and sorry for the rest of his life. I'm coming for everything. This is my moment," Ngannou said.
Ngannou is a former UFC heavyweight champion. However, he gave up the status because he did not reach an agreement with UFC President Dana White regarding contract extension.
Leaving the UFC made Ngannou also have the opportunity to try boxing. Moreover, he liked this sport before becoming a free fighter.
