YouTube Secretly Raises Premium Subscription Price Of IDR 210 Thousands Per Month

JAKARTA - Google has quietly raised the price of YouTube Premium, from 11.99 US dollars (Rp180 thousand) to 13.99 US dollars (Rp210 thousand) per month.

The price is set for new and old customers. Meanwhile, if they subscribe to the YouTube application on iOS, they have to spend more than 18.99 US dollars (Rp285 thousand) per month.

Although this price only applies to users in the US, it is possible that the video streaming platform will also do the same globally.

"We are updating prices for YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium subscribers in the US to continue providing great services and features," a YouTube spokesperson said in a statement.

"We believe this new price reflects the value of YouTube Premium that allows subscribers to enjoy YouTube ad-free with playback in the background and offline, as well as uninterrupted access to more than 100 million songs with the YouTube Music app."

The price increase also applies to students, but lighter than 7.99 US dollars (Rp120 thousand) per month from the previous US$6.99 (Rp105 thousand) per month.

The only package that Google has not changed is the YouTube Premium family package, which is still priced at 22.99 US dollars (Rp345 thousand) per month.

In fact, the family package was upgraded in October 2022, $5 more expensive than ever before, Google made a surprise by raising its price on a large scale in the US, Canada, and other regions.

Old customers will start seeing new prices in the next collection cycle. The next email describes the changes, as quoted from 9to5Google and BGR, Friday, July 21.

For information, YouTube Premium is here as a step to remove ads (while still supporting content creators), allowing audio playback only for videos and downloads so that they can be accessed offline.

Other features include the quality of the Premium 1080p streaming, watching together on Google Meet, the ability to test previous features, and some extended free trials.
