Police Arrest Perpetrators Of Trafficking In Persons In Palangka Raya, Victims Become Prostitutes

PALANGKA RAYA - The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Palangka Raya Police, Central Kalimantan, arrested a perpetrator of a criminal act of trafficking in persons (TPPO) in his jurisdiction.

"The perpetrator in the TIP case who was arrested was a man with the initials MH (26), a resident of South Kalimantan Province, who was arrested because he had the heart to sell a 19-year-old woman at a rate of Rp. 300 thousand," said Deputy Chief of Police of Palangka Raya AKBP Andiyatna as reported by ANTARA, Monday, July 17.

He explained that the perpetrator and the victim were known to have a friend relationship and had only launched the action for two weeks in Palangka Raya City, through the Michat application.

The reckless action carried out by MH was aimed at meeting the needs of his life and his friends every day. With this action, the person concerned finally dared to sell his girlfriend to a masher.

"His daughter also agreed that she was sold to a masher at a rate of Rp. 300 thousand per service," he said.

MH also admitted that from the sale of these services, he received a share of Rp. 150,000 to Rp. 400 thousand per day. With the income that is quite easy to get, the perpetrator is comfortable marketing his colleagues through the application account he has created using the profile photo in question.

For his actions, according to him, now the perpetrators who are already languishing in the Palangka Raya Police Headquarters Detention Center are charged with Article 2 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 21 of 2007 concerning criminal acts of eradicating trafficking in persons.

"The maximum penalty is 15 years and a maximum fine of Rp600 million," he said.

The Deputy Chief of Police of Palangka Raya also appealed to all parents to be aware of the TIP crime.

"Especially for parents who have girls, do not let their children become victims of child sales to satisfy the lust of mashers," said Andiyatna.
