More Than 4 Thousand Political Banners In Jakarta Were Removed During June

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Satpol PP removed more than 4,000 political banners during June 2023. Head of DKI Jakarta Satpol PP Arifin said that this removal was carried out on props that did not have a permit or whose broadcast recommendation period had ended.

"The Jakarta Satpol PP has lowered 1,006 party flags and 3,101 banners/banders related to community leaders and certain party figures," Arifin said in his statement, Monday, July 10.

Arifin said that the majority of banners, flags, and banners were removed were related to the 2024 General Election. This can be seen from the inclusion of logos and serial numbers for election participants.

Meanwhile, the current stages of the election campaign have not yet taken place. The timing of the installation of the attributes of political parties ahead of the 2024 election is the authority of the KPU.

"Therefore, the DKI Satpol PP appealed to all parties to participate in maintaining order, cleanliness and mutual comfort in the installation of information media and props," said Arifin.

Arifin said that the installation of political party attributes must have a permit from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. In addition to obtaining permits, said Arifin, the installation of political party attributes such as flags and so on must also apply for time.

"Yes, we propose how long we will evaluate it. If the time is up, it will be lowered," said Arifin.

According to Arifin, the time for installing political party attributes is usually only 14 days and cannot extend the installation time. If the deadline for installing the attributes of the political party has not been lowered, then the Satpol PP will lower the attributes.

"Yes, no (there will be an extension) it will be sent down on its own, there will be events for him. Maybe there is a munas, there is a meeting, everything is like that. Yes, when the time is over, it will be lowered," explained Arifin.
