Hotspots Of Forest And Land Fires In East Kalimantan Decreased: Initially 30 Locations, Currently 16
JAKARTA - The Balikpapan Station Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) detected 16 hotspots spread across East Kalimantan Province (Kaltim), a decrease compared to the previous day which was detected in 30 locations.
"Throughout Friday (23/6) 30 hotspots were detected in East Kalimantan, but throughout Saturday (24/6) from 01.00 to 24.00 WITA, hotspots fell to 16 locations," said Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Sepinggan BMKG Balikpapan Coordinator for Data and Information at Class I Meteorological Station, Balikpapan, quoted by Antara, Sunday.
Hotspots are indicators of forest or land or forest and land fires detected from a location with relatively high temperatures compared to the surrounding temperatures, so all parties are advised to be vigilant and take care of each other so that new hotspots do not occur.
"We urge all related parties and the wider community to remind each other not to throw cigarette butts carelessly on dry land or in dry forests, including not burning when managing agricultural land," said Diyan.
The distribution of 16 hotspots has been informed to related parties, including the local Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) in order to receive further action.
He said that the 30 hotspots observed on Friday with hotspots monitored throughout Saturday were new hotspots that appeared in different locations with different coordinate points.
A total of 16 hotspots monitored throughout last Saturday were spread across four districts, namely Paser, East Kutai, Kutai Kartanegara, and Berau Regency.
The details are that in Paser Regency there are two points spread across two sub-districts, namely Batu Sopang and Muara Komam sub-districts with a middle level of trust.

In Berau Regency, four hotspots were detected spread over three locations, namely Gunung Tabur District with two points, Sambaliung and Sengah sub-districts with one point each.
In East Kutai Regency, there are seven hotspots spread over three sub-districts, namely Bengalon five points, Kaubun and North Sangatta sub-districts one point each.
"Kutai Kartanegara Regency has three points spread across three locations, namely Muara Muntai, Loa Kulu and Sanga-Sanga sub-districts. All hotspots detected have a middle level of trust," said Diyan.
