Gimpo Airport Will Launch Hotel Services For Dog Care, Equipped With Playing Parks To Swimming Pools
JAKARTA - If nothing changes, dog care services will be available at Gimpo International Airport starting in June for passengers who leave their pets during the trip, as part of airport efforts to serve passengers carrying pets.
According to an airport official, the check-in dogs will be sent to a nearby pet hotel, where they will stay until the time comes to be returned to the airport to be picked up.
"Comping dogs are more common today. And we see a lot of people having problems with their pets while planning a trip," an airport official told The Korea Times about how the service came about, as quoted June 1.
"We hope this service will serve passengers better," he said.
The pet hotel, according to the airport, has six large playgrounds, swimming pools, photo studios and other facilities on an area of 4,000 square meters.
"The measure is an important consideration when we vote for it," the official said.
Standard services will cost 50,000 won per day. In addition, premium service options are also available. However, this service will be limited to dogs.
"The storage area at the airport is not wide enough to accommodate dogs and cats at the same time. In addition, we also see more requests from dog owners," he said.
Along with the increasing number of companion animals in the Ginseng Country, the tourism industry is gradually taking steps to better serve pet owners.
Lotte Duty Free and Shinsegae Duty Free offer discount coupons specifically for their customers for local pet hotels.
Meanwhile, Korean Air offers discounted prices for pets who often fly with their owners. In addition, there are now more and more hotels that allow pets to enter the room, offering pet-friendly facilities and packages.
