Former Rio Haryanto Duet Partner Wins 10th Formula E Race At JIEC Ancol

JAKARTA - TAG Heuer Porsche racer Pascal Wehrlein won the 10th Formula E series which was held at the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit, Ancol, Jakarta, Saturday, June 3.

The German beat Jake Dennis of Avalanche Andretti, as well as champion Maserati MSG Racing, Maximilian Guenther, who started the race from pole position.

The appearance of the former Rio Haryanto duet partner in Jakarta became a sweet "revenge" that brought him back after being eliminated from the top position of the standings at Monaco.

"I am very happy with this achievement. I thank the team, the energy they provide makes me able to overcome the pressure during the race," Wehrlein said, as reported by Antara.

"Of course, it feels good to be back at the top. This will not be achieved without the hard work of the team, and we still have a long journey after this."

Wehrlein started the race from the third grid. He was behind Guenther and Dennis.

The three leading riders exchanged positions for the leadership positions of the competition until the plaid flag flew.

Wehrlein was able to overcome the pressure from her two rivals quickly and calmly by becoming the first to cross the finish line with a thin margin of 0.477 seconds ahead of Dennis. Meanwhile, Guenther had to settle for third place 1.43 seconds later.

"Yes, I am quite happy (finis in second place). There are many opportunities and I am under pressure, and Pascal can overcome that (stress)," said Dennis.

"We did our best and I congratulate Pascal and Jake. This is a fantastic feeling because we can be on the podium with them," added Guenther.

Meanwhile, leader Nick Cassidy (Envision Racing) is trying his best to beat Jean-Eric Vergne's (DS PENSKE) defense. Both were involved in a collision, but the two riders were fine and each finished the race in seventh and fifth positions.

Another collision also hit two Jaguar TCS Racing riders, Sam Bird and Mitch Evans, which left them in the bottom position and Evans who did not finish the race (DNF).

Ancol's E-Prix International Circuit will again hold its 11th series race on Sunday, June 4, when Jakarta won to host the two series of electric car racing championships.
