Take A Peek At The Latest Progress Of The Padang-Pekanbaru Toll Road Project

JAKARTA - The Padang-Pekanbaru expressway is the corridor connecting the Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) network directed by PT Hutama Karya (Persero). When completed, the construction of the toll road which is divided into 6 (six) sections will connect the connectivity of the provinces of West Sumatra and Riau with a total length of 254 km.

Director of Operations III, Koentjoro, explained that the construction of the Padang-Pekanbaru Toll Road has made significant progress.

"From a total of six sections, Hutama Karya has operated the Pekanbaru - Bangkinang section toll road in September 2022 and was inaugurated directly by President Jokowi in January 2023. In addition, the Bangkinang - Koto Kampar toll road and the Padang - Sicincin Section are being pursued for completion so that they can meet the plan's target," said Koentjoro quoting a written statement, Wednesday, May 17.

In more detail, the progress of construction of the 24.7 km Bangkinang - Koto Kampar toll road has reached 75.13% for construction work and 90.72% for land acquisition progress. In addition, the progress of land acquisition for the Padang - Sicin toll road with a length of 36.6 km has reached 85.82%, with construction progress reaching 36.57%. Meanwhile, 3 (three) other Padang - Pekanbaru toll road sections, Sicin - Bukittinggi, Bukittinggi - Payakumbuh, and Payakumbuh - Koto Kampar will be carried out in stage IV of JTTS construction.

The Bangkinang - Koto Kampar toll road will later be equipped with a number of structural facilities including 13 boxes of underpasses, 9 boxes of pedestrians, 7 main bridges, 4 overpasses, and 1 barrier gate, 2x2 number of lanes with a planned speed of 80 km/hour. The toll road construction, which is targeted to be completed by the end of 2023, also received full support from the Riau Provincial Government. In an interview with Antara News Riau (05/2), Assistant II of the Regional Secretariat of Riau Province, Job Kurniawan said the existence of JTTS will have a major impact on the community.

"The existence of JTTS is expected to accelerate the growth of goods and services, so that competitiveness in Riau Province will increase. Therefore, the Riau Provincial Government is ready to support everything needs for the development of the national project," said Job Kurniawan.

Meanwhile, the acceleration of land acquisition progress, especially on the Padang-Sicincin Section toll road, was carried out with a number of strategies such as coordinating with the Land Procurement Commitment Making Officer (PPK), the Regional Office of the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) as the Land Procurement Committee (P2T), and the Acceleration Team chaired by the Deputy Governor of West Sumatra Audy Joinaldy, the Regency Government. Padang Pariaman, as well as other stakeholders related to the acceleration of land acquisition in priority locations to be carried out.

On Monday (10/4), the Deputy Governor of West Sumatra, Audy Joinaldy carried out a visit site activity in order to provide his support for the construction of the Padang - Sicin Section toll road which is targeted to be completed in July 2024. The Padang - Sicincin toll road project continues! He said. In this activity, there were also Project Director Section Sicincin - Padang and Project Manager for the Padang-Sicincin Toll Road Project.

As for other strategies in terms of construction, the construction of the Padang - Sicincin toll road is maximized, especially when the weather conditions are sunny. This toll road will later be equipped with a number of supporting facilities in terms of structure, such as 24 main bridges, 21 box underpasses, 2 toll gates, up to 2 (two) rest areas at km 23A and 23B.
