SEA Games 2023: Fajar Fathur Rahman Doesn't Want To Be Satisfied Just Being The Most Goals While
JAKARTA - The name Fajar Fathur Rahman is now the center of attention at the 2023 SEA Games for men's soccer. The U-22 Indonesian national team player is now the temporary scorer for the two-year championship.
He got that status after scoring two goals when the U-22 Indonesian national team won 3-0 in the third match of Group A at the Olympic Stadium, Phnom Penh, Sunday, May 7.
Despite being the center of attention, Fathur Rahman admitted that he did not want to be complacent with his achievements at the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia. The player who was born in Manokwari wants to focus on achieving even higher achievements.
"So far, I just want to contribute to the national team. What is clear is that I am not satisfied with the current achievements," said Fajar after the match.
Until the third match of Group A phase, Fajar Fathur Rahman had scored four goals. In addition to two goals against Timor Leste, the 20-year-old scored one goal against the Philippines and one goal against Myanmar.
Fajar became one of the Indonesian players who shined in the biennial championship after gaining full trust from coach Indra Sjafri. Even the coach from West Sumatra expressed his special appreciation.
"The results of my experiment turned out to be fruitful. Thank you Fajar. What is clear is that what was achieved was the result of teamwork," said Indra Sjafri, as reported by Antara.
The former Bali United coach also asked Fajar to continue to improve his abilities. Moreover, there are still several matches that must be faced at the 2023 SEA Games.
"Don't be complacent. The journey is still long," said the man who is also PSSI's Technical Director.
After making sure to qualify for the 2023 SEA Games semifinals, the Garuda Muda national team is still faced with a Group A phase match against the host Cambodia, Wednesday, May 10.
