KCIC: Iron Thief For Fast Train Projects Not Internal Employees

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) confirmed that the thief of a number of irons in the Jakarta Bandung Fast Train (KCJB) project who was arrested by the Bandung Police was not an internal employee.

"Once again, we clarify that the perpetrator is not a KCIC person but an employee of one of the contractors in the KCJB project. KCIC as the project owner asked all contractors to ensure the integrity of all the officers they employed and improve the security of the KCJB project construction," said General Manager Corporate Secretary of KCIC Rahadian Rattry in a statement quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, May 6.

KCIC pun meminta kepada seluruh kontraktor yang terlibat dalam proyek KCJB untuk meningkatkan pembinaan di internal, memperketat keamanan di area proyek.

Then carry out selective recruitment and take advantage of the use of technology in terms of security, for example by installing CCTV at various vulnerable points.

"As in other development projects, there are always parties who try to take components or goods that are not their rights because they feel it is a trivial thing," said Rahadian.

Even though there was an incident, KCIC ensured that the construction of the KCJB project as a whole would continue according to the planned schedule. All operational aspects will still ensure safety ahead of the KCJB operations later.

"KCIC would like to thank the TNI, Polri, and all parties who have been helping in securing the KCJB project. This collaboration is expected to prevent and minimize the various potential disturbances that could occur in the future," said Rahadian.

Previously, the Bandung Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) arrested three perpetrators of theft of a number of iron from the KCJB project located in the Tegalluar area that entered the Cileunyi District, Bandung Regency, West Java.

Bandung Police Chief Kombes PolKusworo Wibowo said there were about 200 kilograms of iron stolen by three suspects with the initials A (29), J (24), and WK (26).

According to him, A and J were security officers at the project, while WK was the driver who helped carry the stolen goods.

"This theft case is located at the Tegalluar KCIC Station which is carried out by KCIC's own internal security. It will be carried out on May 2, 2023, precisely at 00.30 WIB," said Kusworo, at the KCIC Tegalluar Project Depot, Bandung Regency, Saturday.

According to him, the suspect as a security officer took advantage of the shift time at night to carry out his action.

The two security officers, according to him, then coordinated with the WK as the driver to carry a pickup truck to carry stolen iron.
