5.3 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Saparua Central Maluku, No Tsunami Potential
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) noted that an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 shook the southeastern part of Saparua Island, Central Maluku, which was felt up to Ambon City. The earthquake occurred at 15:54 WIT with the epicenter at the coordinates of 3.62 South Latitude (LS) and 126.68 East Longitude (BJ) with a depth of 103 kilometers. The earthquake point was 6 km southeast of Saparua and 12 km northwest of Central Nusalaut, Central Maluku, as released on the BMKG website, Wednesday. BMKG informed that the earthquake had no potential for a tsunami. Earthquake shocks were felt in Saparua, Kairatu III MMI, Ambon, Masohi II-III MM I.
