Ambon Residents Can Watch The Lunar Eclipse In May 6 Early Morning
AMBON - Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Class I Geophysics Station Ambon stated that the penumbral lunar eclipse phenomenon could be witnessed in Ambon City on May 6, 2023.
"The phenomenon of the penumbral lunar eclipse occurs on May 5-6, 2023, for the Eastern Indonesia Region (WIT) starting at 00.12 WIT so that it has entered May 6, 2023," said the Coordinator for Data and Information for the BMKG Class 1 Geophysics Station in Ambon, Luthfy Pary, in Ambon, Tuesday.
He said the penumbral lunar eclipse in eastern Indonesia began at 00.12.09, the peak of the eclipse was 02.22.52, and the eclipse ended at 04.33.36.
The Lunar Penumbra eclipse, which will occur on May 5-6, 2023, can be observed throughout Indonesia with a long duration of eclipse from the initial to the final phase of 4 hours 21 minutes 28 seconds.
The lunar eclipse, which is the 24th member of 73 members in the Saros 141 series. The previous month's eclipse which was associated with this month's eclipse was the penumbral lunar eclipse on April 24, 2005.
As for the upcoming lunar eclipse, it is associated with this month's eclipse, which is a partial lunar eclipse on May 16, 2041.
The lunar eclipse of the penumbra occurs when the entire part of the moon is in the penumbra. The eclipse of the moon of the penumbra causes the moon to still be visible with a gloomy color.
To distinguish the penumbrane's lunar eclipse from the full moon from the naked eye is very difficult, because the penumbra's lunar eclipse still looks like a full moon, it's just that the light is fainter.
The lunar eclipse of the penumbra can be observed on the condition that the sky is not cloudy and the moon is not covered with clouds. Maximum observation results can be used by telescopes.
"According to schedule, we will carry out monitoring in the courtyard of the BMKG office of the Ambon Geophysics station," he said.
