Asked About Sandiaga's Candidacy For President, PPP Requests The Public To Wait For An Official Announcement From The Chairman

JAKARTA - The Spokesperson of the Partai Persatuan Pembangunan (PPP), Usman M Tokan or Donnie Tokan, refused to disclose the name or even the characteristics of the potential presidential candidate that his party will announce this afternoon on Wednesday, April 26.

When asked about the possibility of Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, Donnie asked to wait for the official announcement from the Acting Chairman of PPP, Muhammad Mardiono.

"Let's just wait," Donnie said when confirmed on Wednesday, April 26.

Mardiono is scheduled to announce the name of the capres that PPP will support in Sleman, Yogyakarta, at 2:00 PM WIB. Rumors are circulating that the Ka'bah party will support the PDI Perjuangan presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo.

Previously, Sandiaga Uno was also mentioned as a potential capres or vice-presidential candidate from PPP. Even Sandiaga has bid farewell to Gerindra although he has not yet expressed his intention to join PPP. However, on Saturday, April 22, Sandiaga was found to have met with Mardiono at his residence in the Kebayoran area, South Jakarta.

Regarding the meeting, Donnie refused to comment, including about Sandiaga's closeness with PPP. He only said that PPP would wait if Sandi did indeed want to join their party.

"We'll wait if Sandi wants to join PPP," said Donnie.
