Nias, West Sumatra And Banten Rocked By Earthquake In Almost The Same Time

JAKARTA - Three areas in Indonesia were rocked by earthquakes with almost the same time. Starting from Nias, West Sumatra to Banten.

Most recently, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 rocked South Nias at 06.33 WIB. Although the epicenter was at a depth of 20 km, BMKG confirmed that there was no potential for a tsunami, Sunday, April 23.

At the same time, there was also an earthquake with the same strength in the Agam area, West Sumatra. The depth of the earthquake is 12 km.

Meanwhile, a few minutes earlier, at 06.29 WIB, an earthquake with M 3 strength rocked Banten. The epicenter was at a depth of 36 Km.

Previously, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 occurred in the Mentawai Islands Regency. BMKG informed that the earthquake occurred at 04.17 WIB.

The location of the earthquake was 0.94 South Latitude (LS)-98.38 East Longitude (BT) with a depth of 19 kilometers.

Meanwhile, the epicenter was 177 kilometers (km) northwest of the Mentawai Islands.

BMKG informed that the earthquake had no potential for a tsunami.
