Celebrating Eid In Thailand, Indonesian Embassy In Bangkok Presents Various Indonesian Foods
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok serves special foods for Eid such as rice, rice cake, rendang, sayur godok, chicken mouth and tofu, green ballad eggs, solo sausages and Surabaya layers to treat the longing of Indonesian citizens in Thailand for the Lebaran atmosphere in the country.
In a written statement received by Antara on Saturday, the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok also held Eid prayers and halal bihalal with Indonesians in Thailand after Eid prayers which are usually moments of meeting and gathering with Ambassador Rachmat Budiman and staff of the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok, as well as to release the longing for the atmosphere of Eid in Indonesia.
The number of Indonesian citizens in Thailand is around 2,000 people consisting of students, international organizational workers, multinational companies and Thai national companies, as well as academics.
The Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok has a very good relationship with them and has always involved them in Indonesian Embassy activities.
According to Rachmat Budiman, some Indonesian citizens in Thailand went home to Indonesia to celebrate Eid al-Fitr with their families in Indonesia. On the other hand, Indonesian students in the country are Eid in Thailand.
Thailand itself recognizes the tradition of going home to celebrate Eid al-Fitr together, especially in provinces where the majority of the population is Muslim, such as Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat in southern Thailand, but different from Indonesia in that country did not recognize traffic jams during Eid.
