Bandung Mayor Yana Mulyana Becomes A Suspect, With Orange Vests For KPK Prisoners
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has officially named Bandung Mayor Yana Mulyana as a suspect in alleged bribery in the procurement of CCTV and internet networks. This determination is the result of a hand arrest operation (OTT) which was carried out on Friday night, April 14 yesterday.
From VOI's observation, Yana came down from the investigator's room at 00.31 WIB, Sunday, April 16 wearing an orange vest for KPK detainees. He was seen handcuffed and escorted by prison guards along with three other suspects.
The anti-corruption commission will detain Yana and other suspects for the first 20 days in different detention centers. This detention can be extended according to the needs of investigators.
Yana was arrested by the KPK along with 8 other people, including officials at the Bandung City Transportation Service. It is suspected that he received money for procurement related to the Bandung Smart City program.
For information, Yana was inaugurated as Mayor of Bandung on April 18, 2022. He initially filled the Oded M. Danial position who died on December 10, 2021.
He started his political career in the Gerindra Party in 2018. At that time Yana ran to become a candidate for Deputy Mayor of Bandung with Oded M. Danial and was elected.
He became the second Mayor of Bandung to be caught in a case in the anti-corruption commission. Previously, the KPK had named the Mayor of Bandung for the 2003-2013 period, Dada Rosada, as a suspect in the case of handling social assistance cases.
At that time, the chest with the Bandung Regional Secretary Edi Siswadi bribed the Bandung District Court judge, Setyabudi Tedjocahyono. The award was made so that his name would not be dragged into the social assistance corruption case, as well as the defendants in the social assistance corruption case, who were his subordinates, were lightly punished.
As a result of this act, Dada was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2014. The sentence was lighter than the demands of the KPK prosecutor who demanded that he be sentenced to 15 years in prison and has now been released from Sukamiskin Prison, Bandung, West Java.
