Don't Use Flashed Lights Anymore, Situbondo's Polay Hamlet Has Been'shocked' By PLN

JAKARTA PT PLN (Persero) operates 3 electric substations for 40 residents at the hamlet location which is about 28 km from the city of Situbondo.

Previously, residents of the Polay hamlet relied on falling lights as lighting. There are about 25 heads of families (KK) using lighting from an intermittent Solar Power Plant (PLTS). Geographical conditions that are difficult to reach are the main factors in this region that have just been electrified.

General Manager of PLN East Java Distribution Main Unit (UID Jatim), Lasiran explained that this year he intensified the electrification of hamlets in the 3T area as many as 25 locations.

"For this Polay Hamlet, PLN installed a 6.142 kilometer Low Voltage Network (JTR) for Circuit (kms), 10.194 kms of Medium Voltage Network (JTM) and 3 x 100 kilovolt ampere (KVA) transformer," Lasiran explained in an official statement, Wednesday, April 12.

He added that PLN hopes that the entry of electricity in the area can increase community productivity. Moreover, community activities in the month of Ramadan can be helped, such as cooking activities, tarawih, Koraning, studying nights and such.

Furthermore, he said PLN also collaborated with the surrounding community to participate in maintaining the electricity network. Given the conditions in the hamlet, there are many trees that are tall and shady.

"We hope that residents will participate in maintaining smoothness and safety of electricity. At least when there is a tree adjacent to the power cable, it will be cut / trimmed immediately by informing PLN officers to trim," added Lasiran.

In the future plan, PLN in collaboration with the local government will continue to develop electricity infrastructure in the Baluran National Park area, Situbondo, precisely in Merak Village.

"For electrification in the Merak-Baluran area in Situbondo, this year's planning has been entered. We have also coordinated with local stakeholders regarding the location survey, hopefully everything will run smoothly without problems," said Lasiran.

The electricity infrastructure needed in this region includes 13,598 kms of JTM, 4,554 kms of JTR, and 2 units of GTT with a capacity of 200 KVA to supply around 250 families.

PLN also targets 103 unelectric hamlets spread across Jember, Bondowoso, Situbondo, Probolinggo, Tulungagung, Bangkalan, Sampang, Pamekasan, Sumenep, Pacitan, Ponorogo, Nganjuk, Bojonegoro and Madiun to immediately electrify 100 percent in line with the government's East Java Provincial program.
