The Results Of The Draw That Benefited The Indonesian Men's Volleyball Team At The 2023 SEA Games Cambodia
JAKARTA - The results of the 2023 SEA Games volleyball draw benefited the Indonesian men's volleyball team. The Red and White representatives avoided the hell group in the preliminary round of the SEA Games in Cambodia which will take place on May 5-17.
Based on the results of the draw announced by the organizers, Wednesday, the Red and White squad was in Group A along with two other teams, namely Singapore and Cambodia as hosts.
The draw can be said to be profitable because Rivan Nurmulki and his friends are not in the same group as other strong teams such as Thailand and Vietnam who are members of Group B with Malaysia and Myanmar, as reported by Antara, Thursday, April 6.
Meanwhile, the Philippines has attracted attention because it is absent from the group draw. Even so, as reported by Rappler, Thursday the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) said the Philippines would participate and the team had already formed.
The Indonesian men's volleyball team itself was seeded in the preliminary round. The Red and White squad will come with the best composition to defend the gold medal at the 2023 SEA Games.
In the previous edition of the XXXI/2021 SEA Games which took place in Vietnam, last year, Doni Haryono and his friends won after beating Vietnam 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-15).
This result confirms that Indonesia is a strong team because it successfully defended the title won at the XXX/2019 SEA Games in the Philippines after defeating the host with a score of 3-0 (25-21, 27-25, 25-17).
The Red and White Squad is conducting a national training camp (pelatnas) at the Kunarto Police General Padepokan, Sentul, Bogor, West Java since 27 March.
Apart from Rivan and Doni, Indonesia has a row of reliable volleyball players such as Dio Zulfikri, Muhammad Malizi, Nizar Julfikar, Farhan Halim, Fahreza Rakha Abhinaya, Henna Zulfi, and Yuda Mardiansyah Putra.
Five players who last year appeared in Vietnam, namely Irpan, Dimas Saputra, Rendy Febriant Tamamilang, Daffa Naufal and Sigit Ardian were not included in the list of the Red and White squads for the Cambodian SEA Games.
As a substitute, the Central Board of the Indonesian Volleyball Association (PP PBVSI) summoned Boy Arnez, Hendra Kurniawan, Henry Ade Novian, Fahri S. Putratama, and Angga Anggara.
Meanwhile, in the women's sector, Indonesia is in Group A with defending champions Thailand, Myanmar and Malaysia.
Meanwhile in Group B, the four countries that will compete for two places in the semifinals are Vietnam, the Philippines, Singapore, and Cambodia as the host.
The women's team's journey in the preliminary round is predicted not to be easy. Especially with Thailand, which in the last 13 editions of the SEA Games dominated by always winning gold medals.
However, recently news emerged that the women's volleyball team was not dispatched to the 2023 SEA Games.
