YOGYAKARTA The government provides subsidies for people who want to convert oil-fueled vehicles (BBM) to electricity. Before participating in the program, it would be better for the public to know the plus-minus conversion of electric motors.
As is known, the conversion of electric motors is a change in the components of vehicles driven by fuel in part or overall with electric vehicle components. Then what are the pluses and minuses of electric conversions to vehicles?
The conversion of electricity is very possible to do. However, there are several things that must be considered by the community, namely as follows, quoted from various sources.
There are currently more fuel motor components circulating in the market than electric motor components. This is estimated to make it difficult for electric vehicle owners when the motorbike is damaged in one of its components.
It must be noted that electricity conversion can be done but not all workshops can carry out this conversion. The government also requires the workshop that has been appointed to serve the conversion of fuel motorcycles to electricity. When an unexpected damage occurs, the electric vehicle owner cannot bring it to an ordinary workshop.
Although the community provides subsidies, the cost of converting fuel to electricity is quite expensive. The funds needed are estimated to reach Rp. 18 million according to the condition of the motorbike. However, there are also those who only need funds of around Rp. 14.1 million for non-matic motors, and Rp. 15 million specifically for automatic.
The large funds are needed for various purposes ranging from the purchase of battery components, BLDC, tidal service costs, physical test costs, STNK adjustments, and so on.
The conversion funds needed also depend on the type and condition of the vehicle. If there are many changes that must be made to the conversion of electricity, the costs that must be incurred will be more expensive.
Currently, the electricity charging station is still not as much as the POM Pertamina, so the vehicle owner must carefully take into account the need for power with a distance. If the calculation is missed, the electric vehicle will turn off.
This factor is one of the big considerations of the Government. Electric motorbikes do not pollute the air so that they support the Government's program, namely Net Zero Emission in 2060.
Electric motors do not require routine maintenance because they do not need oil, do not need to replace chains, and so on.
The operation of electric motors is also considered more efficient because it does not require routine maintenance costs or replacement of periodic vehicle components. Electric motors are also more efficient because the price to be spent for charging electricity is cheaper than fuel prices.
The reduction of electric motors can be taken into consideration. Electric vehicles rely on dynamo which is directly connected to the rear wheels so that it is more compact. This condition is also the maximum distribution of energy to wheels.
As stated earlier, the Government provides subsidies of IDR 7 million per unit for electric motor conversion with a total limited quota of 50,000 units by the end of this year.
