Slipknot Drummer Jay Weinberg Launches New Mask For Knotfest Japan
JAKARTA - Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg in collaboration with Japanese artist Solid Blackline created a new mask specifically designed for two Knotfest shows in Japan last weekend.
Slipknot appeared on Saturday and Sunday night at Makuhari Messe in Chiba. The two days feature Slipknot as the main performer, along with a group of Japanese and international rock bands.
Earlier on Saturday, Weinberg via his Instagram shared several photos of his new mask.
"It is an honor to collaborate with Japanese painter @solid_blackline for my mask this weekend, specifically designed for @knotfestjapan," he wrote in a message accompanying him.
"Organic forms flowing from their high contrast designs evoke feelings of mysticalism and beauty, balanced in the duality of chaos and regularity felt by a person as a visitor in this stunning country.
There really isn't any better way to divest in everything @knotfestjapan is fighting for to share our love for Japan, and his rich artistic culture in addition to welcoming local talent through collaboration with our own expressions through this weekend's show.
"See you tonight, Tokyo!"
