Metamask Warns Rumors Of Bad MASK Token Launch

JAKARTA - Metamask, one of the popular crypto wallets, has issued a warning regarding the launch of fake MASK tokens. This was announced through the Metamask Twitter account on March 28.

According to Metamask, rumors that spread widely related to the official launch of tokens or airdrops on March 31 are untrue and very dangerous. This can allow fraudsters to target crypto users.

This was said by software developer Metamask, Dan Finlay, who said that many people knew nothing in charge of the hype surrounding the airdrop. And Finlay also warned that fraudsters were likely to take action that day.

Rumors about the possible launch of the Metamask token have been circulating for a long time. In fact, this is likely because ConsenSys CEO, the parent company of Metamask, once gave instructions via his tweet on Twitter in November 2021. However, Metamask itself has not provided confirmation regarding the planned launch of the token.

In March 2022, Decrypt reported that ConsenSys CEO Joseph Lubin has confirmed that Metamask plans to launch tokens. However, the statement was later taken by several large sites as evidence of a upcoming launch.

Previously, there was also a fraud that occurred in December 2021 targeting Metamask users. Hundreds of users became victims when attackers hijacked a decentralized exchange to create a fake WETH/MASK trading pair. In addition, in January, there was also fraud that spread through Metamask related to poisoning address. This indicates that Metamask is often the target of phishing and fraud.

MetaMask warns that crypto users should always be careful and not easily believe in unclear rumors and information. They also emphasize the importance of always ensuring that the sources of information they receive are true and reliable. The company also insists that it will continue to strengthen the security of their products and combat the scams that occur in the crypto space.
