Subject To European Sanctions, Government Is Looking For A Replacement For Russian Companies Manager Of Tuna Blocks

JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) is looking for a replacement for Premier Oil Tuna BV partner, Zarubezhneft. Just so you know, Zaruvezhneft is a Russian company affected by EU and UK sanctions over Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

"We are still looking for a replacement," Arifin told the media quoted on Wednesday, March 29.

Just so you know, Premier Oil Tuna BV holds 50 percent of the participation rights in the Tuna Block and cooperates with a subsidiary of Zarubezehneft, ZN Asia Ltd.

Meanwhile, in its annual report, the parent company from Premier Oil, Harbor Energy, revealed that the Indonesian government had given approval for the Tuna Field POD in December 2022 but was hampered by sanctions from the European Union and the British Government.

"We are working with our partners to achieve a solution that will allow us to advance the project in 2023," Premier Oil wrote in its report quoted Wednesday, March 29.

Arifin Tasrif also revealed that his party is also looking for ways to prevent the Tuban Refinery Project from being affected by European Union sanctions because this project is a National Strategic Project.

"Surely we are looking for a solution to overcome this impact so that the project can run because it is strategic for us," added Arifin.
