Be Careful, Laughing Lying While Fasting Can Bergerogoti Pahala

JAKARTA - During fasting, people compete to collect rewards. Therefore, the Grand Imam of the Istiqlal Mosque Prof. Dr. KH Nasaruddin Umar, MA reminded Muslims not to laugh openly, especially during fasting in the month of Ramadan because it can reduce the reward of fasting.

"Also authorized our mouth not to talk about other people's negatives, lie and laugh openly because it all reduces the reward and even eats away at the reward of fasting," Nasaruddin was quoted as saying by ANTARA, Monday, March 27.

Nasaruddin said that one time the Prophet Muhammad SAW had reprimanded people in a group who laughed openly and this was once revealed by Imam Abu Laits As-Samarqandi in the book Tanbihul Ghafilin. At that time the Prophet SAW said, "Remember for the sake of Allah who is in His hands, if you knew as I know it, then you would laugh a little and cry a little."

"I remind all of us, be careful, the person who likes to laugh and laugh is lifted by the blessing of his face by Allah SWT, that's a hadith of the Prophet," said Nasaruddin, who also highlighted the tendency of lust during the day and night in those fasting people.

Nasaruddin then advised Muslims to avoid meetings that could invite them to laugh openly, especially at night.

Instead of laughing, he continued, multiply filling the night with tears to repent for the sins that have been committed. According to Nasaruddin, tears of association are one of three tears that are impossible to touch by the fire of hell in addition to tears of longing for Allah SWT and tears of religious protests.

"At night we should correct ourselves, how much sin we commit, how little charity we collect on the way to the afterlife," said Nasaruddin.

He also invited Muslims to maximize all worship during Ramadan by not only performing obligatory worship such as fasting, praying and giving zakat, but also carrying out other sunnah services such as sunnah prayers before and after the obligatory prayer, tarawih, tahajud and lightning.
