Garuda Targets The Number Of Flights To Grow 40 Percent
JAKARTA - The national airline Garuda Indonesia has set a target for the growth in the number of flights operated at 40 percent compared to the end of 2022. This is in line with airline policies to increase flight frequency.
President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Irfan Setiaputra, said that the increase in frequency will be carried out in stages from March to April 2023 in a number of flight sectors served for the destinations of Jakarta and Denpasar.
"Jakarta and Denpasar as the most populous flight hubs in Indonesia will later be able to connect foreign tourists to various domestic flight routes located in the national leading tourist destination which is also served by Garuda Indonesia," he said in an official statement, Sunday, March 26.
Irfan said, his party will also consider the outlook for the performance of flight routes and the growth of passenger demand in this increase in frequency.
Through increasing frequency, Garuda plans to increase flight service capacity on a number of international flight routes such as Sydney-Jakarta pp which will be operated three times a week. Then, Singapore-Denpasar pp which will be operated five times a week.
Furthermore, Hong Kong-Jakarta pp which will be operated 5 times a week, Haneda-Jakarta pp which will be operated three times a week. Then, Guangzhou-Jakarta pp which will be operated twice a week.
Then, Sydney-Denpasar pp which will be operated three times a week: Melbourne-Jakarta pp which will be operated three times a week; Melbourne-Denpasar pp which will be operated twice a week; and Amsterdam-Jakarta pp which will be operated twice each week and Singapore-Jakarta which will be operated 34 times a week.
In addition, continued Irfan, Garuda Indonesia will also operate a new route, namely Surabaya-Singapore pp five times a week.
With this additional frequency, the number of flights that will be operated by Garuda Indonesia in April 2023 will be increased.
"It is projected that it will grow by at least 40 percent compared to the end of 2022," he said.
Irfan explained that the addition of flight frequency for a number of international flights to domestic destinations is a form of Garuda Indonesia's efforts as a national flag carrier to support foreign tourists' growth.
"This is in line with the momentum of national tourism recovery which continues to be optimized by the Government and various parties," he said.
According to Irfan, this increase in flight frequency is also a projection of Garuda Indonesia's optimism for positive performance outlooks which will continue to be improved in the future.
"Especially through the alignment of the capacity base for production equipment with market demand, whose growth is increasingly consistent amid the momentum of reopening access to various countries in the world," he said.
In addition to maximizing the opportunities for the passenger market between countries, said Irfan, this additional frequency is also expected to be able to bridge cargo delivery needs, especially various national leading export commodities.
"Such as maritime products and MSME products, which we hope can grow in line with the various increase in flight frequency projections, especially in supporting direct call activities for Indonesian export commodities," concluded Irfan.
