BSSN Submits Investigation Results Of Election Data Leaks To The Police And KPU

JAKARTA The National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) provided further information regarding the results of the investigation into the alleged data leak on the General Elections Commission (KPU) website on 27 November.

BSSN spokesman Ariandi Putra said his party had submitted a report to the Directorate of Cyber Crime (Dittipidsiber) of the National Police and the KPU. The report was submitted today.

Ariandi said that the reports on the results of the digital analysis and forensics submitted were based on investigations in terms of applications and servers to find out the root cause or root of the problem.

"The report will be followed up by the Dittipidsiber Polri in terms of law enforcement and the KPU as the organizer of the Electronic System in accordance with their respective authorities," explained Ariandi in a written statement.

Even though BSSN has submitted a report, they are committed to maintaining the security of KPU data. This institution will cooperate with the Dittipidsiber and the KPU in tightening cybersecurity.

"BSSN will continue to synergize and collaborate with the KPU and Dittipidsiber Polri in securing cyber elections in 2024," said Ariandi.

Previously, 252 million Indonesian voter data were reportedly leaked and traded on illegal sites. This news was first voiced by cybersecurity consultant Teguh Apriyanto and the Chairman of the Cyber Security Research Institute (CISSReC) Pratama Pershada.

The data distributed includes NIK, NKK, ID number, TPS, e-KTP, gender, and date of birth. This data was taken by a hacker whose origin and identity is unknown to date.
